Today, I got to work on my final project and finish typing up the other lessons that go along my project. This project went great and I am glad that I had the opportunity to be in a class for this project. I feel that I get the necessary information, or tools, to learn from being in that classroom because it is the best place to practice what I learn from my classes. I understand that teachers are so stressed about making deadlines and having a strict calendar to follow and to teach students, so I do not usually see teachers teaching by using thematic units. I really enjoyed this unit because with one idea, it made it easier for me to develop other lessons from there. Not to mention that the students did their best at wanting to learn more about the subject (money). I have to admit that the idea did not just fall onto my head. It is difficult to come up with an entire lesson unit for all content areas. I also came upon many great resources which made it harder for me to pick and choose from. As time went by and I saw how the children reacted to some assignments, I was able to modify my lessons which is always necessary. Lesson plans are hardly ever perfectly well planned and call for no changes. My internship opened my eyes for the process of creating lesson plans because before I was in an actual classroom, I would make lesson plans for classes and that would be that. What my lessons stated was going to be what occurred in the classroom. Until I got to my internship, I was able to see how exactly I was making my activities and how the class would complete them or not. This is really good because I get familiar with what they are learning and how they are working it out.
